Almost everyone we have available to us is wounded and imperfect. If we let their wounds define them, we will never build. Their reaction to what happened to them is a marker for their design. Normally that means borrowing money. In Hezekiah’s story, it meant leveraging a tiny amount of favor in the community into a strategy that produced the favor of heaven. Mercy ministries are, essentially a form of communism. While the American church professes to disdain the political/economic model of communism, it redistributed a third of a trillion dollars last year in classic need-based manner. A hybrid business has as its core engine a value added proposition that makes possible transformation of a different nature.

05. Elders: Definition of an Elder vs. a Father
The term elder is not used in the secular community here in the West, yet it is an important term. Some people are fathers and some are elders. This clip is designed to help fathers relate properly to elders. Elders do not rule over fathers, but are vital to the well-being of fathers. The ambiguity around the term elder leads to many unhealthy social contracts being projected onto them by well-meaning but misinformed fathers.

A bartender is a specialist in legitimizing powerlessness. People come in with their sad story, and it is not his job to fix their problems. He agrees that they are in a tough spot and serves them some pain relief. This is NOT what a father does. It is an art form to have vast compassion for the pain of a person, while never coming into agreement with their perspective about powerlessness.
